After upgrading from Windows 2000 to Windows XP, I can no longer connect my notebook to my desktop with the infrared port. Any ideas how to fix this?

In the Control Panel applet, double-click Administrative Tools, then click Services. Make sure that the Workstation service has started. The Workstation service doesn't start automatically in XP if a network card isn't installed.

I've performed two clean installations of Windows XP (with SP1) on two PCs. The network cards work as I can attached to our intranet using TCP/IP, but there's no WorkStation Service there at all in Services.
Any Ideas?

The Client for Microsoft Networks component is actually the Workstation
service.
Install the Client if you want the Workstation Service.
